Jinior (AKA Ajax)

Ajax we believe is coming 4 years old this year. He has filled out wonderfully to be an athletic and agile young horse. He's still about 15.3h (his hooves were long in his assessment), but probably around 250lbs heavier. His hooves are much healthier and thicker-walled now. His soles still have some toughening up to do, and he still tends toward being club-footed in his front right due to body imbalance. His chest is starting to broaden and his hip and hocks are HUGE. We've watched him drive my other gelding around, even "cutting" him against the arena wall like a cow. I also have seen him canter backwards for a few strides in this process...something one doesn't normally see a horse do on its own in the herd.

Ajax is still unstarted, but is penciled in for a 30 day colt start with Dave Williams of St Helens, OR at the end of June. I'm really excited to see how Dave can support Ajax in his learning, and to see if a balanced and meticulous rider can help him build the right muscling to even and balance his body and fix that club foot. Dave will also introduce roping and possibly cows...a couple things I think Ajax will excel at with the right foundation.
